The conversation will open with a reflection on the evolution of European music export and explore the possibilities for a more inclusive, sustainable future for internationalisation.
The challenges the European music sector faces are multifaceted. We must ensure equal and accessible mobility for artists across Europe, particularly given current visa restrictions, funding gaps, and growing ecological concerns. We need robust support and rules that help all players (small to large, independent or not) and safeguard cultural rights in cross-border collaborations. Cities and regions have the potential to play a more active role in building inclusive cultural ecosystems—going beyond flagship events toward initiatives with lasting, meaningful impact.
Ultimately, there is an opportunity to reshape how we approach export and internationalisation across the continent and beyond Europe as fair, reciprocal exchanges rooted in mutual respect, local empowerment, and cultural diversity.
This session is part of the Music Moves Europe initiative by the European Commission.
