In a time of deep social, environmental and geopolitical uncertainty, the live music sector is called to act – not only to reduce its impact, but to lead positive change. In this keynote, Karolina Juzwa, coordinator of the Wytwórnia Foundation, President of Europe Jazz Network, and co-leader of the Creative Europe project Better Live Music, will explore how applying a sustainable approach to concert production and artistic mobility can strengthen the music ecosystem, support artists in the long term and bring cultural experiences closer to people across Europe.
By rethinking how we present music and organise tours, through regional cooperation, shared routing and audience proximity, we can reduce emissions while improving working conditions for artists. Sustainability offers a way to move beyond one-off shows, reduce travel stress, build stronger community ties and create more space for artistic growth.
Drawing on insights from recent European projects, Karolina Juzwa invites the sector to see sustainability not as a constraint, but as a catalyst for a more connected, inclusive and future- oriented live music landscape.
The keynote will be followed by a panel discussion moderated by Virgo Sillamaa bringing together diverse voices from the music sector, including artists, cultural operators and agents, to reflect on experiences, challenges and strategies for building a more sustainable and inclusive future for live music.
