Interdisciplinarity is combining knowledge, methods, and perspectives from academic disciplines to address a complex problem or achieve a shared goal. Today’s music market is more complex then ever, facing breakneck changes, vulnerable to many challenges facing modern times. At Music Week Poland we have prepared a series of panels that will guide you through the depths and dimensions of interdisciplinarity, a conference track thoroughly prepared and mapped out in collaboration with CRPK – Centrum Rozwoju Przemysłów Kreatywnych (Polish Creative Industries Development Center is a Polish state-run cultural institution established in 2022 to support and connect creative industries).
Music and Games – Music in Games: Two Worlds Apart?
Poland is not only a significant market for video games but also home to a vibrant and internationally recognized game development scene. Despite the growing role of music in games, the relationship between the games industry and the music industry remains surprisingly limited. At Music Week Poland, we’re asking a fundamental question: how can the gaming sector be so successful with music—while largely operating without the music industry’s active involvement? Speakers: Markus Linde (Europe in Synch), Anna Laskowska (Sony Music Publishing), Andrii Zaitsev (Geisha Ninja Samurai), Piotr Musiał (composer).
Sync Is Not One Size Fits All: Local Markets, Global Strategies
Music synchronization strategies for film and, in particular, trailers vary across different national markets – including the U.S., Germany, the UK, Mexico, and Poland. In this panel we’ll examine local preferences, creative trends, and industry expectations that shape trailer sync decisions – and how cultural context, audience behavior, and industry infrastructure influence what gets licensed, pitched, and placed. Speakers: Roy Lidstone (Power-Haus Creative / A&GSync), Paty Carrera (Control Freaks), Sophia Blume (Bosworth / Wisemusic), Damian Słonina (Jaguarec).
Sound It Out: How Music Finds Its Place in Advertising
In advertising, music isn’t just background — it’s the emotional engine of a story, the element that sticks with you long after the screen fades to black. This panel dives deep into the creative process behind music selection for ads, bringing together voices from the front lines: a music supervisor, a commercial film director, and a creative director from an ad agency. Expect real-world anecdotes, spot-on campaign breakdowns, and a candid look at the beautiful friction between music, visuals, and messaging. Speakers: Magda Niestryjewska, Adam Smereczyński (Creative Director), Zuza Duchniewska-Sobczak (Creative Director), Jesper Gadeberg (Music Supervisor).
